IOSH Managing Safely

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

• Explain working safely
• Understand safety management systems (e.g., HSG65, BS 8800) and the role of risk assessment
• Compare and integrate safety management systems with other systems
• Record and investigate incidents, considering human factors
• Understand statutory reporting requirements and check for non-reporting
• Perform trend and epidemiological analysis for reactive monitoring
• Define hazards, risks, and legal requirements for risk assessment
• Apply quantitative risk techniques and maintain records
• Identify and implement workplace precautions and controls
• Use active monitoring checklists and analyze results
• Conduct health and safety audits
• Understand the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related regulations
• Review management procedures and techniques
• Identify specific hazards and assist in preparing risk assessments

Various start dates available. Students will study between 9am – 3pm.

No prior knowledge is required however the target audience is employees in an organisation who have to manage risk and resources.

Classroom based delivery with a 25 question, multi choice exam.

In order for you to achieve the IOSH Managing Safely qualification you must successfully complete the examination and, a risk assessment based project.

The Managing Safely qualification comprises seven core modules and an organisation-specific module requiring a total direct input period of at least 24 hours plus assessment time.
