Course overview

On completion of the course, delegates will receive a broad-base knowledge of hydraulic equipment used in the offshore industry, will be able to identify symbols and components used in schematic drawings and design basic hydraulic circuit drawings, will understand the importance of cleanliness levels and correct filtration placement in hydraulic systems, will develop good safety practices while working on high pressure hydraulic circuits and will be able to use best practices in fault finding techniques and procedures to reduce costly downtime.

Aims
The aim of the course is to provide course delegates with an introduction to the different types of hydraulic components and their controls.

Objectives
At the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Describe component parts of a hydraulic system
  • Describe the operation of various types of hydraulic pumps
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematic circuits
  • Assemble, test and operate different hydraulic circuits
  • Describe the operation of various types of control valve including sliding pool types
  • Describe the properties of hydraulic fluids
  • Describe properties of hydraulic fluids, the different type of filter and location of filters
