Reacting quickly and calmly to prevent unplanned downtime is one of the most important features of any Suez employee, and TTE apprentice, Connor Brown, has been presented with an award for doing just that.
Connor started his journey with TTE and employer Suez in 2021 and has already established himself as an extremely valuable member of the team, after winning an award that demonstrates forward thinking, reliability and teamwork carried out to its best extent.
Suez state: “Connor is an Apprentice Operations Technician based in SUEZ Tees Valley (STV) energy-from-waste facility. He recently played a vital part in ensuring that unplanned downtime was prevented on site which avoided lost production costs, contributing to our Profitable Business CSF.
“Connor displayed excellent knowledge and experience with a methodical, calm approach when discovering and clearing a blockage. He assisted in stabilising the plant and keeping it running when the compressed air system was lost.”
After proudly collecting his Critical Success Factor (CSF) Award, Connor reflected on his achievement and what he felt he did to be presented with this award.
Connor said: “With every situation I would take a second to think about the system and severity of the issue occurring, from there I would come up with an approach through teamwork and from the training that I have learnt for different types of problems that can occur on plant.
“This training would be asking questions to the other operators, educating myself through the trainer packages, both theory and out on plant, as well as the safe working procedures associated with the system. Finally, shadowing the operators if the problem has already occurred before and taking notes for the next time it occurs. All these factors helped me remain calm under pressure throughout the situation. ”We want to say a huge congratulations to Connor on this amazing achievement, being recognised at this level as an apprentice shows all the hard work, dedication and training is paying off.”
