A £1.5 million investment has expanded specialist engineering and advanced manufacturing training facilities at Middlesbrough College’s state-of-the-art TTE Centre.
Six additional classrooms have been unveiled as part of a new mezzanine level, creating space to deliver further theory and academic education alongside the practical, workshop-based learning offered elsewhere at the centre.
Covering approximately 3,767 sq ft., the space significantly increases the centre’s capacity, enabling the college to enrol up to 1000 TTE learners.
The mezzanine is the latest investment in the £35 million TTE facilities at the college, following the opening of the TTE Centre in 2025.
The centre features industry-standard training equipment, process control labs and immersive virtual reality training areas to equip students with essential skills required for successful careers in engineering and process industries.

“It also demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in facilities that support skills development, create opportunities and respond to the needs of businesses across the region.”
Morgan Sindall Construction completed the work on the mezzanine ahead of schedule, marking the third project the business has delivered for the college.
Highlighting the strength of the ongoing relationship, the construction company has also made a £2,500 corporate responsibility donation to the college, which will be used to fund further specialist advanced manufacturing equipment.

Middlesbrough College’s £130 million campus supports more than 12,000 students, including 2,200 apprentices.
