September – June

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 vocational qualification and/or four GCSEs at grade 4/5 (C) or above that must include maths, English and science.

All assessments are by way of internally set assignments or time constrained tests per module.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills so that you can progress onto a range of University courses. Past students have progressed onto the HNC and HND in Instrumentation Operations and then complete the BEng (Hons) Engineering top-up degree.

You can progress on to the Level 4 HNC Electrical Electronic Engineering or Level 4 HNC Instrumentation and Control Engineering dependent on the level of achievement and interview or study a degree in electrical or instrument engineering.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

All full time students will be offered a number of options to secure at least 10 days of meaningful work experience during the year. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.
