TTE deliver bespoke training programme to engineers in the UK

Project background

TTE Technical Institute worked with Saudi Council of Engineers to deliver a 25 week bespoke training programme for 50 engineering graduates at our UK training centre. The training programme was designed to accommodate 13 mechanical, 16 electrical, 13 chemical and 8 industrial engineering graduates which commenced with a one week induction and familiarisation session for all graduates.

TTE’s role

Following the first week of induction and familiarisation of TTE facilities and staff, the graduates undertook training in the following areas:

  • Risk assessment
  • Manual Handling
  • Health, Safety and Environment including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

The graduates completed a comprehensive 13 week vocational training programme which was designed for the learners to receive a mixture of theory and practical ‘hands-on’ vocational skills.

As part of the assessment, TTE designed a 10 week industrial project to design, build, start-up, test and shut down a ‘live’ water treatment plant. This exciting project tested the graduates’ skills in each respective engineering discipline, giving them excellent working experience on a real world project within the controlled environment of TTE’s award winning industrial training facility.

During the technical training course, the graduates were required to:

  • Work as part of a team
  • Perform effective verbal and written handovers
  • Deal with alarms and plant upsets, which could escalate to a critical level
  • Conduct process fault finding – identification and rectification of faults
  • Work to plant operational and safety procedures
  • Take plant samples for analysis

Upon success completion of the training programme, each graduate achieved the following certification:

Electrical, Instrument, Mechanical and Chemical Discipline Groups

  • British Safety Council Level 2 Manual Handling Principles and Practice
  • British Safety Council Level 2 Principles of Risk Assessment
  • British Safety Council Level 2 Principles of COSHH
  • TTE Certificate of Attendance listing all modules successfully completed
  • EAL GVQ Level 3 Award in Process Operations (Electrical/Instrumentation/Mechanical/Chemical)

Industrial Engineering Discipline Groups

  • IOSH Working Safely
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate
  • British Safety Council Level 2 Manual Handling Principles & Practice
  • British Safety Council Level 2 Principles of Risk Assessment
  • British Safety Council Level 2 Principles of COSHH
  • TTE Certificate of Attendance listing all modules successfully completed

To ensure successful completion of each training module, the graduates were assessed on their understanding against training programme objectives, culminating in a final end point assessment at the conclusion of the course. The graduates were also supported with advice and guidance on how to compile a good portfolio of evidence which was required as part of the course competition criteria.

Supporting graduates welfare all the way

TTE’s welfare team arranged meet and greet transport for all the graduates to and from the centre, as well as providing 24 hour support to the students whilst they were staying in Middlesbrough.
